Pensacola Standout Sets Up FSU Visit

One of the top defensive backs in the country has set up an official visit to Florida State. What's the latest from the four-star 5-foot-11 and 175 pound standout?

"I'm going to visit Florida State on (1/21)," Clarence Ward of Pensacola (Fla.) said. "I'm also going to set up visits with Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Alabama."

His former La Marque (TX) teammates Russell Ball (FSU commitment) and Korey Mangum will also make the trip with him.

Ward has been hearing from two programs on a regular basis.

"I haven't had any in-home visits yet but my coach talks with Texas A& M quite a bit," he said. "I also hear from Coach Mickey Andrews."

Will Ward move back to Texas for his college ball or will he stay put in the Sunshine State?

"I could end up anywhere," he said. "I'm open to everyone. I'm looking for a school with a good environment."

What are his thoughts on Florida State?

"I look at Florida State very highly," he said. "FSU has a big-time environment."

As a senior at Pensacola high school, he recorded 50 tackles, two interceptions and three forced fumbles.

Ward is an excellent student who carries a 3.1 grade point average with a test score of 840 on the SAT.
