He's a three-year starter who enters Saturday's Gator Gowl against West Virginia with 35 career starts.
But there's one problem.
Willis' status remains uncertain due to an ankle injury suffered in the regular-season finale against Florida.
"It's still wait and see on Ray Willis. All you can say right now is that it is day-to-day," FSU coach Bobby Bowden said following the Seminoles' practice.
If Willis is unable to go, redshirt freshman David Overmyer will make his first career start.
Overmyer, from Lilburn, Ga., played in all 11 games this season in a reserve role as well as on special teams. He will enter spring drills as the front-runner to replace Willis.
"I've worked hard for this opportunity," Overmyer said.
"I have been getting almost all of the reps with both the first and second offense during bowl practices. I feel like I'm well prepared.
"It would be exciting to start and it would be a good experience to build on for next year."
