Can the Noles Turn the Tide?

Over the summer, one of the top defensive backs in the state of Florida verbally committed to Miami. However, the 6-foot-0 and 180 pound standout from Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central will officially visit Florida State on (1/28) with his good friend Antone Smith.

I got Miami this week and Florida State on the last visit," Randy Phillips said. "It's going to come down to those two schools. Antone Smith and I still want to play for the same school."

Who is recruiting him the hardest?

"Well, I'm already committed to Miami so they have slowed down a bit," he said. "Florida State is coming after me the hardest because they are trying to take me away."

What will it take for the Noles to overcome the Hurricanes?

"We would both have to fall out of love with one school and fall in love with Florida State," he said. "It's possible."

Phillips was selected MVP of the Palm Beach All-Star game by recording seven tackles, an interception and two long returns on special teams. He also caught a 0-yard fade pass for a touchdown.
