Duke Comes to Town

Duke's Shelden Williams has become the most dominant players on the boards in the Atlantic Coast Conference this season. He not only leads the ACC in rebounds, but also averages a double-double per game, and tops the conference in blocks. The Seminoles have struggled on the glass in the past, so Saturday's showdown with Williams will be a test of how the team's progressed.

There haven't been many times this season when Florida State coach Leonard Hamilton was pleased with his team's rebounding effort. A lack of focus, and intensity under the hoop has put the Seminoles on the losing end of the rebound battle on several occasions.

But in the bigger games, namely Florida, Maryland, and Wake Forest, FSU has dominated down low, securing a rebounding margin of over 12.

On Saturday, Florida State will face one of its most difficult challenges on the glass when Duke's Shelden Williams, the ACC's leading rebounded, comes to Tallahassee to take on the Seminoles in front of a sold-out crowd at the Donald L. Tucker Center.

Williams is the only player in the ACC averaging double-double figures (15.9 points, 11.1 rebounds). He also leads the conference in blocks (3.79 per game).

Williams led the team in rebounds in every game this season except NC State. He's also been a major factor in the Blue Devils closest games, including a career-high 30 points on 11-of-12 shooting in the win over Miami, Jan. 19.

The Seminoles have been out rebounded in sixth of its eight losses, and hold just a 0.8 advantage in rebounding margin.

Florida State, though, has the players to contend with Williams on the boards, it's just been a matter of hustle that's cost the Seminoles key rebounds in the past.

Al Thornton, Anthony Richardson and Adam Waleskowski have all hit double-figures before. Thornton pulled down 10 and 13 rebounds against Wake Forest and Maryland. Richardson recorded over ten rebounds in back-to-back games against Jacksonville and Stetson.

Waleskowski leads Florida State with 5.1 rebounds per game, but is the only Seminole ranked in the conference's top 25 in rebounding.
