The 5-foot-11 and 175 pound four-star standout Clarence Ward is originally from La Marque Texas and he transferred to Pensacola during his senior season.
"We saw him on tape in his junior season at La Marque (TX) and he actually
committed to LSU during the summer so we backed off of him," Coach Andrews said.
"Then he ended up transferring to Pensacola high and he got there around the third
game of the year."
What does Coach Andrews like about his newest free-safety?
"The thing that I like about him is that he has great range and that he can
run real well," Andrews said. "He's got good ball skills and he gets a real good
jump on the ball. He plays physical but he's not as big as a Jerome Carter or a
Pat Watkins. But he's got a lot of ball skills and he's a good tackler. He's a
kid that has a chance to be an outstanding player at the next level."
Ward recorded 53 tackles,
one interception and eight pass breakup as a senior in Pensacola.
As a junior, he recorded 93 tackles, five interceptions and four fumble
recoveries (three defensive touchdowns).
