Coach Andrews Talks About his Freshman FS
"Kenny Ingram is a big-kid," Coach Andrews said. "Right now he's working with the basketball team. He's around 6-foot-5 and 217 pounds now and he runs well. He's a pretty good tackler. However, I would like for him to work on his tackling even more. Sometimes he can overextend himself. Taller guys have to learn how to play with a shorter stride like Antonio Cromarite has. That's the only way you can use your height to your advantage. He's a contact player and he has pretty good ball skills. He's another one of those freshmen that has to work hard this spring to be ready for the fall."
This spring, Ingram will enter the depth chart as the number three free-safety. However, the Seminole defensive coordinator has talked about moving Roger Williams to Rover which would put Ingram as number two on the depth chart behind senior Pat Watkins.
I hope I'm at least 2nd on depth chart," redshirt freshman Kenny Ingram said. "I hope I can at least split time with Pat (Watkins) and get quality playing time this year."
As a senior in high school, he recorded 60 tackles and five interceptions. As junior, he recorded 60 tackles (35 unassisted tackles and 25 assisted) along with six interceptions.
Ingram has tremendous upside with his size, speed and strength. Two years ago at the Gainesville combine; he ripped of an impressive 4.55 40-yard dash time. His physical characteristics are very similar to Pat Watkins. If he can learn enough to please Coach Mickey Andrews, it would benefit the Seminoles to move Roger Williams to free safety where the only player with game experience in Kyler Hall. Williams has seen practice time at both safety positions.
