Noles Offer Huge OL Prospect

One of Florida State's biggest needs in the class of 2006 will be offensive lineman. The Seminoles coaching staff wasted very little time by offering a huge prospect out of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland.

Cruz Barrett is a huge offensive lineman at Mainland High School in Daytona, Fla. At 6-6 and 320 pounds, he is not hard to find on the football field, and he claims two big offers already.

"Florida and Florida State have offered me a scholarship," said Barrett. "Florida State was my favorite team growing up. I'm interested in Florida State, Florida, Miami, Georgia, and LSU the most right now. I went to camps at Miami and Florida State last year, and I'm planning on going to Florida, Miami, and Florida State for summer camps this year."

Barrett also gets it done in the classroom; he told us that he has posted a 3.5 GPA thus far. He mentioned that Florida State was his favorite team growing up, and he patterns his game after a successful big man with the Seminoles.

"I compare my game to Tra Thomas. He has great footwork and is a big guy."

Barrett is also a big guy to keep an eye on this fall as he helps lead another powerful Mainland team.
