Chris Davis Hopes for a Break-Out Year

Everyone has been waiting for junior Chris Davis to breakout and last Saturday the former five-star high school standout showed a glimpse of greatness by leading the Seminole wide receivers with five catches for 90 yards.

Just before reporting to Florida State out of high school, Chris Davis had a major set back by tearing his ACL. Last spring, he also suffered a set back with ankle surgery which caused him to miss all spring practices. This spring has been the first time the former St. Pete Catholic standout has been able to fully participate in off-season workouts which he hopes will pay dividends this spring and fall.

"I always feel I have more to give and I'm just trying to reach my potential," Davis said. "This is my first spring going through everything healthy."

In last Saturday's Scrimmage, Davis hooked up with Wyatt Sexton for a long gain and he caught several passes from Drew Weatherford. Is he developing chemistry with any one quarterback?

"Drew just happened to hit me on a couple of plays, but I'm trying to work with all the quarterbacks," he said. "All of them have something different about them, but all-in-all they come together and get the job done."

This spring, Davis is trying to focus on the small things in order to get ready for the season.

"During the scrimmage, I was executing and getting everything together, blocking assignments and route running," he said.
