Claude Makes His Move

With several offensive linemen recovering from off-season surgery, true sophomore Jacky Claude has been penciled in at the top of the depth chart a left guard and he's not looking back.

In a recent interview with The Territory, offensive line coach Mark McHale praises the former Miami (Fla.) Edison standout as the player who has made the biggest improvement on the line.

"I've been doing some good things, correcting my mistakes," Claude said. "I'm not perfect out there, but I'm doing good. My biggest improvement has been my pass-blocking."

In the beginning of spring practices, the offensive line unit was starting to show positive signs until injuries set the unit back a bit.

"We looked good in the beginning, but a couple of injuries set us back a few steps," he said. "We are doing ok and we are still pretty solid. As a unit, the biggest things we are working on besides getting everyone healthy are communication and the technique like calling out the backer, calling out the sets, and stuff like that."

Claude is a tremendous athlete with very quick feet who didn't give up a sack his entire junior season in high school.
