Noles Offer State of Florida's Top Propsect

Wednesday, Florida State offered a player considered by many to be the top athlete and prospect in the state of Florida. However, it might be a little too late for the Noles.

Jamar Hornsby of Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood has been racking up offers left and right. Yesterday, the Seminoles threw their name into the hat.

"The new offensive line coach stopped by today and offered Jamar," Sandalwood head coach Adam Geis said. "He's a real nice guy and we talked for about an hour. However, Florida State isn't in his top five. They haven't been showing him any interest until they stopped by today. All the schools head coaches' in his top five (Florida, Michigan, Georgia, Georgia Tech and USC) have stopped by except Georgia. Actually, Pete Carroll of USC will be stopping by on Thursday."

According to Geis, Hornsby is still wide open.

Hornsby feels playing time will be his biggest factor.

"I picked that top five because of early playing time which is a huge factor," Hornsby said. "However, this is only my pre-season top five list and I will be keeping an eye on Florida State. I know a lot of players on the team. They got a lot of five star players."

As a junior, he recorded 83 tackles, ten passes broken up and four interceptions.

Scout Report: Hornsby is spectacular on both sides of the ball. Comparing him to two former Sunshine State standouts, he is a more natural receiver than Antonio Cromartie and more physical on defense, and he has the same type of receiving skills as Fred Rouse, but is more physical than him as well.
