Noles Offer Tampa OL

The Tampa Bay area is hot with Division 1A talent for the class of 2006. A 6-foot-5 and 305 pound lineman from Tampa Berkeley Prep is the latest player to receive a scholarship offer from the Seminoles.

"Coach Dickey of Florida State called me last Thursday and offered me," Jim Barrie said. "He also came by my school on Monday as well."

Barrie has racked up an impressive 15 offers, including Auburn, Pittsburgh and Nebraska. However, the Tampa standout is still waiting on his childhood favorite in Florida to offer.

"I grew up a fan of Florida but if they offer, I won't commit," he said. "I need to look at all of the school's depth charts. Also, I want to be a vet so I'll look closely at that part. Both of my parents are vets."

Barrie isn't ready to name a top five yet but said that the Seminoles are very high on his list.

"My parents and I will take an unofficial visit to all three in-state schools," he said. "Also, this summer, I will attend the Florida and Florida State football camps."

Barrie, a four year starter, graded out at 90 percent last year. The physical left tackle can clean 270 pounds, bench 350 and squat 450.

He is an excellent student who is on track to qualify academically.
