Noles Offer and Lead for Miami DB

Two years ago the Seminoles landed two of the very best defensive backs in Dade County in J.R. Bryant and Trevor Ford. This year, Florida State is once again in the running for another top-notch corner from South Florida.

Cornerback Patrick Robinson of Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep has accumulated an impressive looking offer sheet, which includes Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn and Pittsburgh.

"We think Miami is close to offering," Gulliver Coach Ron Butler said. "Even though he lives right around the corner from Miami, he grew up a big Florida State fan. He's talked to Coach Steele a few times and I would bet that before it's all said and done, they will be the team to beat."

Recently, Robinson attended the Florida football camp but he didn't have outstanding reviews of the Gators.

"He didn't like how the coaches were all over him," Butler said. "He doesn't like to be pampered or for someone to try and hold his hand."

What does Coach Butler think of his star pupil?

"He's a real humble kid who will do whatever you ask of him," he said. "There's not too many kids that can run a 4.38 40 like him. He has got a great build and he can jam wide receivers off of the line of scrimmage. Also, he has great hips."

The South Florida standout will attend the first session of the Florida State camp. Will he commit in Tallahassee?

Stayed tuned.
