Tallahassee, Fla. -- Florida State Director of Athletics Dave Hart released the Seminoles' 2006 football opponents on Tuesday.

The schedule shows eight home games for the first time in school history. FSU will play Boston College, Clemson, Florida, Rice, Troy, Virginia, Wake Forest and Western Michigan at home next year. The Seminoles will travel to Duke, Maryland, Miami, and NC State.

"My plan is to reach a point where we play seven home and five away games each year now that we have the 12-game format, but there still could be a season where we may play as many as eight at home and six the next year," said Hart. He went on to confirm that it is not his plan to schedule Division 1-AA teams in the near future and said he "felt confident that we will play all Division 1-A opponents for the next eight years or so, but you can never say never. Things can change not only with your program, but your opponents' schedules."

Hart went on to confirm that Florida State will play UAB at home in 2007 and that a non-conference game against Alabama in 2007 at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida is still a possibility. "We want to play the game and Alabama wants to play the game, so we've brought in the conference offices and our television partners to help us make it happen."
