Sleeper Emerges

Every year a big-time sleeper prospect emerges and this year is no different with the presence of a 6-foot-4 and 215 pound safety from Miami Gulliver Prep. On Friday, a Seminole football coach was on hand to see for himself.

Free Safety Anthony Leon has emerged on the scene as a possible big-time prospect.

"Everyone has been stopping by to see him," Assistant Gulliver Coach Ron Butler said. "Rutgers was pretty impressed and I think Florida State is close to offering. I think Miami wants to see him one more time before offering."

Others schools that are starting to show interest are Minnesota, Georgia Tech, Kansas State and Colorado State.

Leon has been an unknown because this is first year of playing high school football. In the past few years, he has starred on the hardwood of the basketball court.

"He has been concentrating on basketball," Butler said. "He's a football player and game-changer. He could play wide receiver, linebacker or defensive back."

Florida State has received film that was requested from Gulliver Prep.

"Coach Colzie was very impressed with the film we sent," Butler said. "He's going to talk with Coach Andrews about possibly offering Anthony."

Leon is a good student who is on track to qualify academically.
