FSU-Maryland Preview

The No. 9 Florida State Seminoles (6-1, 4-1, ACC) welcome the Maryland Terrapins (4-3, 2-2) to Tallahassee Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 3:37 p.m. The matchup will be the 16th of all-time between the two schools.

SERIES NOTES

-Florida State boasts a 14-1 all-time record against Maryland with the lone loss occurring last year, 20-17. In that game, Terrapin quarterback Joel Statham was 21-of-40 for 333 yards and one touchdown while the defense limited the Tribe to just 50 yards rushing and forced two interceptions.

-Maryland had never come closer than 14 points in the all-time series prior to last year's contest.

-In the first three meetings against a Maryland squad under the direction of coach Ralph Friedgen (2001-present) prior to last season, the Seminoles forced 11 turnovers (seven interceptions and four fumbles) and registered 42 points as a result of those miscues.

-In their last game at Doak S. Campbell Stadium, the Terrapins were only able to muster 197 yards total offense but linebacker D'Qwell Jackson was the star of game. The St. Petersburg native intercepted FSU quarterback Chris Rix's first pass of the day and returned it for the score. Jackson later blocked a field goal in what was his first trip back to Florida as a collegiate player.

-Former Seminole quarterback Chris Weinke tied the ACC mark for touchdown passes with six against the Terps on Nov. 13, 1999.

-Maryland is only one of four ACC schools that FSU has not shutout. Duke, NC State and Virginia are the other three.
