Johnson signs with FSU hoops

Point guard Nate Johnson, who led Moberly Area (Mo.) Community College to a fifth-place finish in the national junior college championship, will join the Florida State basketball team.

Point guard Nate Johnson, who led Moberly Area (Mo.) Community College to a fifth-place finish in the national junior college championship, will join the Florida State basketball team.

Johnson, 20, signed with the Seminoles Wednesday. Johnson, 6-3, averaged 10 points and seven assists as a sophomore at Moberly Area. He played his freshman season at Pratt Community College and than sat out a season before transferring to Moberly Area.

Johnson will join shooting guard Benson Callier, power forward Al Thornton and point guard Todd Galloway. Johnson also was recruited by Creighton, Evansville, Northern Iowa among others.
