South Florida OL Visits Tally

With Florida State's serious need for offensive line help, it's ironic that the Noles got a surprise visitor this weekend from one of the top tackles in the Southeast. How did the 6-foot-6 and 280 pound standout from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas enjoy his time in Tallahassee?

"My sister attends Florida State but this was the first time I got to look around the campus," Marcus Gilbert said. "I got to check out the facilities and meet some of the coaches. The visit went a lot better than I expected. I really liked the game-day crowd. The offensive lime coach remembers me from the spring and he likes my game."

According to the South Florida Standout, the Seminoles haven't been high on his radar due to a lack of interest on their part.

"They haven't called since spring but If Florida State offers, they will be in my top five along with Florida, Miami, NC State and Auburn," he said. "All the teams on my list are even."

Gilbert also got the opportunity to meet some recruits at the game such as Carlos Brown and Myron Rolle. He also got to talk with former St. Thomas teammate and current Seminole wide receiver Richard Goodman.

"Richard and I have a good relationship," he said. "We talk quite a bit."

Gilbert, who has scored a 21 on the ACT test, hasn't allowed a sack his entire season.

"I'm looking for a school that has a great atmosphere and environment," he said.
