Do Noles Still Lead for Tampa OT?

This spring Florida State could be limited to six or seven scholarship offensive lineman which makes recruiting up to seven linemen in the class of 2006 the biggest recruiting need for the Garnet & Gold. One prospect that looked to be a sure bet for the Seminoles doesn't seem such a slam dunk now after his childhood favorite Florida offered.

Florida State has been recruiting and leading for offensive tackle Jim Barrie of Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep. Has an offer from his childhood favorite changed that?

"We were pretty excited about the offer," Barry said. "However, they have a lot of ground to make up. Right now Florida is probably number five on my list because I don't know that coaching staff as well as the others."

Florida State and Michigan continue to lead for the left tackle's services.

"I'm formed a pretty strong relationship with those coaching staffs," he said. "I also like Notre Dame Tennessee."

Barrie's sister attends Florida State and he admitted that would be a small factor in his decision. However, there are higher priorities for the 6-foot-5 and 305 pound standout.

"It's going to come down to where I feel the most comfortable with the coaching staff and the players," he said.

The Berkeley Prep senior just returned from an official visit to Notre Dame.

"I really enjoyed my visit there," he said. "My family and I liked sitting down and talking with Coach Weiss."

Barrie has an official visit set up with Michigan on November 17th and Florida State on December 10th. He wants to visit Florida unofficially for the Florida State game.
