Florida State got some more good news on Sunday with another verbal commitment from the JUCO ranks.

"I told Florida State that I was coming," linebacker Toddrick Verdell of Butler Community College said. "I committed to them because I feel I fit into their system. I will be playing Sam linebacker."

Verdell was hosted by former high school teammate Jae Thaxton. He also got to hang out with a lot of other players and coaches.

"I also hung out Andre Fluellen and a bunch of other players," he said. "Jae told me that Florida State is very nice place to be. The players and coaches think that Ernie Sims is leaning towards going pro and that I will get a lot of playing time."

The former Palmetto state standout played safety at Butler Community College but the 6-foot-3 and 215 pound standout will make the switch to linebacker.

"I'm ok with the move after the coaches explained it to me," he said. "I'm basically a strong safety that will be doing a lot of coverage which is an athletic position."

The JUCO All-American, who has been timed in the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, recorded 75 tackles, four tackles for a loss and three interceptions.

Verdell will move to Tallahassee on January 5th.
