Marcus Ball of Stone Mountain (GA) Stephenville committed to Florida State this evening and Renegade Report.com caught up with the 6-foot-0 and 205 pound four-star standout to discuss his choice.
"I felt real comfortable with Florida State," Marcus Ball said. "It has a home-like feel to it. I grew up a fan of both Miami and Florida State but I was turned off by the fact Miami fired four coaches. They are kind of lost right now. I feel like Florida State is in a better position to win National Championships now than them. However, they are both great programs."
Another key factor in Ball's recruitment was Florida State linebacker Coach Kevin Steele.
"Coach Steele was like a father figure to me," he said. "He said we were going to win National Championships together. I would like to start out at linebacker but I'm not sure what position that I will end up playing."
The Georgia standout has a message for all recruits looking at Florida State.
"If you're a true baller and want to win championships come to Florida State," he said. "If you want to be great, come to Florida State."
As a senior, he led his team to the state semi-finals by recording 126 tackles.
