Local standout narrows his choices

Ryan "Bird" Gilliam of Tallahassee Lincoln really favors two schools right now over a host of others. Where does Florida State fit into the mix? "I want to go somewhere where I can help now," Gilliam said. "How can I play and help the team the fastest?"

Ryan Gilliam is a versatile prospect from Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln High School. The one of many standouts at Lincoln, Gilliam stars on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and cornerback. According to Gilliam, he has 50 verbal scholarship offers and 28 offers in writing.

"Right now, I would say that Florida State is my favorite team," said Gilliam. "I would have committed to them already but I am starting to also like Georgia Tech. At Georgia Tech, they really need receivers and corners, I can get a great education and it is still close to home.

"I also like Clemson, LSU, Georgia, Tulane, Florida and Miami."

Gilliam plans on unofficially visiting FSU, Georgia Tech, Georgia, LSU and Clemson this summer. Once he makes his decision as far as schools go, Gilliam will have to ultimately decide what position to play.

"I want to go somewhere where I can help now. How can I play and help the team the fastest? I have been blessed and I just want to play."
