FSU is Still Hunting UF Commitment

Jacksonville (Fla.) Jackson is the home of the Scout.com Jacksonville MVP D'Angelo McCray who recently gave the Florida Gators a verbal commitment. However, teams such as Florida State and USC haven't given up yet.

"I kind of pulled the trigger early," D'Angelo McCray said. "I chose Florida because they are losing five defensive lineman and I feel I can play early there. However, I'm going to look around a bit. Florida State and USC are still coming after me."

What kind of shot does FSU and USC have with the 6-foot-5 and 280 pound standout?

"I like Florida State and Coach Haggins told me that he has a track record of putting players in the NFL," he said. "I might go to their camp if my coach is working it like last year. I'll also go to Florida's Friday night lights in July. In the fall, I'm going to take an unofficial visit to USC."

McCray has the combination of size and speed with hard-hitting ability.

"I feel like I'm very physical," he said. "I'm a defensive player all the way. Florida wants me as a defensive end while Florida State is recruiting me as a tackle. It doesn't matter to me as long as I get the chance to play defense."

On Thursday at 5: 30 PM , McCray and his Jackson teammates will square off against First Coast in a jamboree.
