Noles Offer South Florida DB

Once again Florida State is in hot pursuit of several big-time prospects from South Florida, including a defensive back from Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade. Where do the Noles stand with the 6-foot-0 and 180 pound standout?

Eain Smith is one of several Division 1 prospects at Chaminade H.S. this year and the talented safety prospect is getting plenty of offers himself.

"It's great playing on a team like this because not only are we chasing a state championship but it brings a lot of coaches out to watch," Smith said. "When we had our spring game last Saturday, there were coaches everywhere. I saw Larry Coker and a bunch of them."

Smith, 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, plays free safety and says he's up to around 12 offers now with one of the most recent ones really catching him by surprise.

"Florida State offered me and I was shocked," he said. "I didn't know how interested they were and then they offer me all of a sudden. That felt great. Bobby Bowden, he's a legend up there. They play good defense and put guys into the league. I was really happy about that one."

Smith isn't ready to name any favorites yet although when asked which schools have offered, he named six of the 12.

"I have them from Florida State, Georgia, Wisconsin, Nebraska, FIU, Colorado, and a bunch more," he said. "I'm gonna wait to narrow it down later in the year and then take my visits and all of that."
