Noles Stay Alive

Sixth-seeded Florida State stayed alive with a walk-off 7-6 victory over North Carolina at the ACC Tournament in Jacksonville Thursday. Shane Robinson's bases loaded single off UNC's Andrew Carignan scored pinch-runner Mark Gildea in the bottom of the ninth. The Seminoles (40-18) used a hit batter, walk, and a fielder's choice with none out to set up Robinson's game winner.

Dennis Guinn hit a grand slam in the sixth inning, his third of the season, to put the Seminoles ahead 6-5. The Tar Heels tied the game in the seventh with an RBI single.

FSU starter Tyler Chambliss gave up eight hits and five runs in five innings. Closer Luke Tucker (2-1) struck out a career high five batters in two innings to earn the victory. The Tar Heels struck out 15 times, matching Florida State's total in Wednesday's loss to Virginia.

The Seminoles will face the loser of today's Virginia-North Carolina State game in an elimination game Friday at 4 P.M.
