Noles are Close to Another Commitment

Florida State got an unofficial visit yesterday from a 6-foot-5 and 273 pound offensive lineman from Deland (Fla.). The Central Florida resident is close to making a decision on his college destination. Will he be wearing Garnet & Gold?

"The Florida State visit went pretty well," Will Furlong said. "I'm 99 percent sure that's where I'll end up. I'm going to Florida's Friday Night Lights and then I'll decide on Saturday or Sunday."

What did he like about his time in Tallahassee?

"The coaches were real knowable there and they plan to get another National Championship," he said. "And of course they have Bobby Bowden."

Furlong, who has offers from West Virginia, UCF, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee State, is very aggressive on the field.

"When I'm assigned to block a player, my goal is to knock that person into the ground," he said.

The 6-foot-5 and 273 pound standout has been timed in the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds. He also can bench-press 300 pounds to go along with a squat of 450 pounds.

The Deland (Fla.) lineman is an excellent student in the classroom with a 3.0 grade point average and a 1270 score on the SAT test.
