McCray Names Top 3, Did FSU Make the Cut?

D'Angelo McCray is the kind of talent that warrants scholarship offers from all over the country. Monday night the Jacksonville native told he has finally narrowed his list of schools. So, where do the Seminoles stand?

Five-star defensive tackle D'Angelo McCray has narrowed his list of schools from six down to three he told Monday night.

The Andrew Jackson High (Jacksonville) standout says his top three schools are Florida State, Florida and Illinois but he isn't ready to say who he favoirs. That will have to come after he sees the schools first hand.

"I like all three of them, I can't really name a leader," McCray told "After I visit them I will know more. I will make my decision in November or December."

McCray, who says he is very close with FSU starting cornerback Tony Carter and talks to him on a frequent basis, said that he will visit Gainesville this weekend for the UF-Alabama showdown. He was once a Gator commitment.

He will visit the Illini the weekend after and will be in Tallahassee sometime after that – possibly for the Tribe's matchup with the Boston College Eagles.

The two-hour trip from Jacksonville will not be his first as McCray was in town for the FSU-Clemson game. Despite the Seminole loss he said it was "a good game" and was impressed by the defense.

With the injury concerns at defensive tackle for the Seminoles and the depth chart in question for the near future, signing McCray would be a huge pickup for FSU. That won't factor into his decision, though.

"I am not really worried about who plays there or depth," he told "Wherever I go I am going to play and make an impact."

He added: "Tony (Carter) just tells me to take my time and make the right decision. It's a big decision and he says to just think it through."

Last season, McCray racked up 75 tackles, 12 sacks and 22 tackles for loss.
