FSU vs. BC: a 'paramount game'

Saturday's game between the Florida State Seminoles and the Boston College Eagles is a must-win for the Tribe if they want to possibly defend their ACC title.

Starting quarterback Drew Weatherford said it best when he was asked earlier this week to talk about Saturday's game against Boston College.

"This is a paramount game in our season. It really just kind of decides everything," he said, "If we come out and we don't win this game, it would really be discouraging for a lot of the players on this team.

"We feel like we are on the upswing of our season. We feel like we are playing pretty good football. It's a big game. Just put it that way, it's a really big game and I feel like it will really show a lot about our team and have a big impact on the rest of our season."

And Weatherford is exactly right. With two conference losses, FSU finds itself hosting one of, if not the biggest games in recent Seminole memory.

A loss to Boston College would end all hopes entirely of heading back to Jacksonville to defend the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship.

But with an NC State loss to Wake Forest last weekend, the Seminoles still find themselves with a foot still in the door so to speak in terms of defending that title. The way that the conference has played out this season means anything at this point is possible. But a win is required.

"I think in the back of everybody's minds they know that there is still a mathematical chance of us being able to make it to the (conference championship game)," Weatherford said. "But at the same time, that's not something we talk about. It's not something we focus on."

"We saw the way that Boston College beat Virginia Tech," junior wide receiver De'Cody Fagg added. "We've got to play Boston College like we did last year but even harder."
