'Noles win 8th straight, beat Friars 92-62

Seminoles now set to kick off conference schedule.

In their final non-conference game of the 2006-07 season, the Seminoles defeated Providence 92-62 at the St. Pete Times Forum Friday night.

Paced by 17 points from Jason Rich and 14 more from Isaiah Swann, FSU (12-2) picked up its eighth consecutive win as they now prepare to start the ACC schedule when the Clemson Tigers come to town Jan. 3.

Standout forward Al Thornton was hampered by foul trouble against the Friars (9-3) but still mustered 11 points.

Toney Douglas and Casaan Breeden each added eight points apiece and Ralph Mims posted nine in the victory.

The Seminoles shot 55.3 percent from teh field compared to just 33.2 percent by Providence. FSU also outrebounded the Friars 36-30 and had half as many turnovers (11 to 22).

As mentioned, the Tribe welcomes Clemson to the Donald L. Tucker Center Jan. 3 to start ACC play.

The first 500 patrons to arrive to the game will receive a free pair of Crocs sandles as part of a special promotion for the evening.
