Despite 29 points from standout senior Al Thornton, the Seminoles (12-4, 0-2 ACC) couldn't find a way to hang with No. 2 North Carolina Sunday night.
The hosting Tar Heels (14-1, 1-0 ACC) were never truly tested in an 84-58 victory.
Florida State couldn't stop UNC's Tyler Hansborough, who had a team-high 25 points and 13 rebounds. In fact, getting to the glass proved to a problem for FSU all night as they were outrebounded 47-35.
Jason Rich was the only other Garnet and Gold player to put a dent in the scoring category as the junior wing man had 10 points. Isaiah Swann added six of his own.
The Seminoles struggled to connect on their shots through the duration of the game as they finished the contest hitting just 22 of the 64 total shots (34.4 percent). The Tar Heels shot 47.1 from the field.
Florida State has now lost its first two conference games of the season as a matchup with ACC foe Georgia Tech looms Saturday at 6 p.m. on ESPNU.
