Thomas enjoyed trip to FSU's Junior Day

Carlton Thomas was one of Florida's most productive running backs as a junior, rushing for 2,280 yards and 24 touchdowns at Frostproof High School. With those numbers, it should be easy to pick up major national attention.

"I've got offers from Notre Dame, Auburn, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona State, and UConn," said Carlton Thomas who was surprised to see the interest pick up as of late. "I don't know where they came from. Coach sent my highlights tape and I guess when they all saw it they offered."

Thomas believes that schools love to see his ankle-breaking cutbacks and big-play ability on film.

"I bring my big play ability, and wherever that is, I will make it. My vision helps me a lot, I'm working on my speed, and being in the weightroom so I don't go down after the first contact really helps me a lot."

With several good backs in the state of Florida, only one in-state school is showing the same interest as the school who have offered.

"Florida and Miami are sending me letters, but are not recruiting as hard as Florida State. Florida State is recruiting me and I went to their junior day on Saturday. It was a good trip; I met Coach Bowden and the running backs coach. I like their program and I like that they are putting in a new offense that we run here at my school, so I would fit in with their offense."

Finding the right offense is key for Thomas as he looks into each school that decides to offer.

"I'm just being patient right now. A lot of schools are coming out and just getting to notice me. I'm not going to shy away from any school, I mean any school I could go to. I just want to be able to fit into their offense and how they fit with me."
