Commack's relationship with Dawsey seals deal

FSU's newest commitment reveals that new wide receivers coach Lawrence Dawsey played a key role in his decision to give an early commitment to the Seminoles. Why did you decide to commit FSU early?

Avis Commack: I didn't want to wait. I just wanted to get it out of the way and go ahead and knock it out. I feel I can come in and make a big impact.

ND: Who is recruiting you at FSU?

AC: Coach Lawrence Dawsey. He is one of the main reasons why I committed. He is real. He has kept a good relationship with me. He is a good coach and a good asset to me for what I want to do with my future.

ND: What skills make you stand out as a reciever?

AC: I have the ability to get the ball in the air. I can do anything the coaches ask me to do. I am a good learner and a good leader. I have good size at 6'4" and 180 pounds.?

ND: How does it feel knowing you will get to play with Nigel Carr and Jermaine Thomas at FSU?

AC: It's good. They did not have a big impact on my decision. They knew I wanted to do what was best for me. Really the academics and the history of the program of FSU did it for me. But it is good that I have some people to fall back on and some people to talk to if I needed. They tried to recruit me a little, doing these little things to get me there. They let me make my own decision. It just happens that I made the same decision as them.

ND: How firm is your commitment? Are you still taking visits?

AC: I am 100 percent. It is solid. I am only going to take an official to FSU. I don't know when that will be.

ND: Do you have any summer plans?

AC: Yes, sir. I am going to do some camps and work out hard. The three of us are going to camps to compete with other kids, as well as some of the defensive players from my school.

ND: When did you start playing football?

AC: When I was in 7th grade. I have always played reciever. When I was smaller I played some linebacker, but since I got to high school it has always been reciever.

ND: Have you taken any tests yet? How is your GPA?

AC: I took the SAT but I haven't gotten my score back yet. I got a 17 on the ACT, and I have a 2.7 GPA. That is going to go up though.

ND: Finally, do you speak to any other recruits?

AC: I haven't yet. But I look forward to interacting with them soon.
