Bobby's Corner

FSU coach Bobby Bowden comments on the Seminoles' Tuesday practice. Bowden was pleased with the play of the quarterbacks, especially Adrian McPherson. "He had a great practice today," Bowden said. "He looked like the old guy. Nearly for three weeks, the way he threw the ball I wondered how he ever made player of the year. But today his mind was a positive thing right now."

OPENING COMMENTS:

"I thought the boys had a pretty enthusiastic practice...worked hard got some things done. I thought we threw and caught the ball pretty well."

HOW DO YOU MOTIVATE YOUR TEAM?

"We'll just concentrate on ourselves. Us to prepare them to play the best they can play and try to motivate them to play the best they can play and there's no reason not to... playing at home, everybody's pretty fresh, we're pretty healthy. When you're playing somebody where you're a heavy favorite like that, I think it's best to concentrate on yourself and try to get yourself to play the best you can play, then go from there. This is a night town as far as crowds are concerned... I don't blame them with the heat and everything. So it should be a good night for football."

COMMENT ON TALMAN:

"Well, number one it does boost your confidence; anytime I think you do something good it boosts your confidence. I would think Talman would go into this game pretty confident. But he's pretty much naturally that way. Staying healthy has been so hard for him. He's played last year and this year with the potential we saw in high school."

WILL YOU TRY TO PLAY A LOT OF GUYS SATURDAY?

"We would sure like to play more guys. We're playing a lot of guys as it is and would like to do more. But you can't do that until you get the game under control. Because you go t to win the game first."

DO YOU REGRET PLAYING ADRIAN MCPHERSON?

"No, I don't regret it... That's something you can't look back on. He had a great practice today. He looked like the old guy. Nearly for three weeks, the way he threw the ball I wondered how he ever made player of the year. But today his mind was a positive thing right now. I think he's been wondering should I, or should I not? He threw out there today like he meant business. Here's a young man that the only QB who can redshirt was him.

"It seemed logical, but I am sure that's been going through his mind every day. It was much more encouraging. Right now, I feel pretty good about our QB situation. It's still a competitive position. Now lets see who can perform the best in practice and in the game. It wasn't very competitive in preseason. It was like Chris and the others. The way both of them performed today, you feel better if something happened to Chris. He was signed here with the idea he could play basketballl if he wanted. but it was with the idea you play football when it's football season, basketball when it's basketball season."

COMMENT ON B.J. WARD:

"I think he's beginning to get the idea of what Mickey wants. You have to do it Mickey's way. That's simply the way it is. It doesn't matter how good an athlete you are. I think Ward is learning more and more the way Mickey wants it done. They finally learn I must confirm. Some of em learn it quickly, some accept it right off the bat and others it takes time. I can see the difference in him. Osei would be in the mix,but he's still out. That's opened the opportunity for some of these guys to get some work."
