New year for Edwards

After being plagued by a knee injury last season, Jamaal Edwards is ready to show Florida State fans what he can do on the field. Edwards shares his thoughts about his teammates and new Coach Dexter Carter.

Last season Florida State split carries between Lorenzo Booker and Antone Smith but, with the graduation of the Miami Dolphins draft pick the ‘Noles are looking for someone to step up and fill the void. Seminole fans had high expectations of the 3rd best running back of the 2004 recruiting class however, after being behind former running backs Lorenzo Booker and Leon Washington, Edwards is going to have his shot at splitting carries with projected starter Antone Smith. "I'm excited to get out there and show everyone what I can do. We're going have a great offensive line this year I'm excited." Edwards tells Edwards is determined to bring to the ‘Noles, who last year ranked 12th in the ACC in rushing and 103rd in the NCAA, back to the top of the ACC. Another reason Edwards didn't see the field much last year was because of a lingering knee injury "I hyper extended it pretty bad but luckily I didn't tear anything. I feel great right now" says Edwards. With the injury behind him Edwards is looking to get back on track.

One Coach who can help the ‘Noles get on track for that goal is Coach Dexter Carter. The former Seminole himself amassed 1,788 yards and 22 touchdowns in his four year career. Edwards shares his thoughts about Coach Carter "He's a great coach. He is getting us to where we're trying to go. It's always good being around someone who has been where we want to go. He can relate to us since he has played the position before." Another factor pushing Edwards is his teammates. Although Edwards is competing with fellow running back Antone Smith, Edwards explains his relationship with Smith "I have a good relationship with him. We are pushing each other because we want to go in the same direction together".
