FSU Practice Week in Review

Noledigest takes a look at this past week of practice for the Florida State Football Team.

This past week, Drew Weatherford was the most consistent at the QB position. Drew has managed the offense well, by producing better statistical yardage and moving the offense down the field. However, Drew has made mistakes. The other quarterbacks are still chasing Drew.

In the running back position, Marcus Sims was unavailable due to a hyper extension in his elbow. Antone Smith ran well, for example he had 6 rushes for 69 yards in the second scrimmage. Additionally, Jamaal Edwards has been running well between the tackles picking up positive short yardage. At fullback, Seddrick Holloway has been performing well in limited appearances. While, Joe Surratt, injured his leg in the first scrimmage and was lost the remainder of the week and possibly the year. His status will be reevaluated this upcoming week.

At receiver, De'Cody Fagg has been gaining considerable Yards after the catch and he has been getting significant separation from the defensive backs. Preston Parker, Greg Carr, Rod Owens, Damon McDaniel and Richard Goodman have all been performing well in the scrimmages and practices. They all have been running routes sharply, blocking well and catching the ball extremely consistent this past week. At the tight end position, Jonathan Hanna has been technically solid catching the football. While Matt Dunham, was unavailable after the first scrimmage due to an injury.

On the Offensive line, true freshman Anthony Grosso left the team and Rodney Hudson, moved onto the 1st team line. On the Defensive line, Letroy Guion had a sack in both scrimmages and had multiple tackles for losses. There are no injuries to report.

At linebacker, Geno Hayes was unavailable this week for precautionary reasons. Toddrick Verdell, Dekoda Watson, Derek Nicholson, Marcus Ball have all been making their fair share of plays. At cornerback, Tony Carter had a minor injury to his knee earlier in the week and did not participate in the second scrimmage. Also this past week, true freshman Bernard Brinson performed at a high level making plays. The safety position has been decimated by injury to Roger Williams, Anthony Houllis and Darius McClure. All have all been hurt at some point this past week. However, Myron Rolle has performed consistently well.

At the kicking position, both Gano and Cismesia have been on and off this past week in missing and making field goals.
