Clemson has two of the best running backs in the Country in James Davis and C.J. Spiller.  Clemson has to replace three Offensive Linemen from last year's line.  FSU's main goal on Defense is to: first stop the run and force teams to go in 2nd and long. Clemson's Cullen Harper is a solid quarterback. However, Harper has 0 career starts in his collegiate career.  Additionally, Clemson also lost their #1 WR Chaunsey Stuckey to the NFL. Clemson's wide receivers lack big game experience. Florida State's entire secondary returns from last year making this unit the most experienced group on the team.   ADVANTAGE: FSU

Florida State's offensive line has a new look. FSU Offensive line coach Rick Trickett has implemented a new system in his first year coaching the Seminoles. Look for the 3 yards per carry average that FSU had in last year's game to go up. Antone Smith is one of the best running backs in the country. Clemson has an athletic group of linebackers and an active defensive line. Dorrell Scott, Rashad Jackson, and John McKissic return to a defense that ranked 18th in the nation against the run. FSU passing offense vs. Clemson pass defense:

 

Drew Weatherford has 3 years of game experience for FSU. Florida State has a talented group of big game experienced WR's in Fagg, Carr, and Goodman. Clemson has a very good group of young DB's led by potential All-American Candidate Chris Clemons. Clemson has to replace two defensive backs from last year's team. ADVANTAGE: FSU  

 

 

 

FSU coaches vs. Clemson coaches:

 

Bobby Bowden holds a 5-3 record against his son, Tommy Bowden. Florida State's Bowden holds the record for most wins in Division 1A Football. Bobby Bowden made a few coaching changes in the off-season. Jimbo Fisher came over from LSU and takes over the FSU offense.  Clemson's Tommy Bowden doesn't have the luxury of studying film of last year's film because it will be a different offense. QB- Advantage FSU. FSU's Drew Weatherford has over 20 career starts in his career at FSU compared to Cullen Harper's 0 career starts with 80 snaps his whole career.

 

RB- Advantage Clemson. Antone Smith is a talented RB but Clemson has a dangerous tandem in Davis and Spiller.

 

WR- Advantage FSU. Florida State has a group of experienced and talented WR's led by Fagg, Carr, and Goodman. Clemson has a speed burner in Jacoby Ford and a super sized WR in Rendrick Taylor.

 

OL- Advantage Clemson. FSU has a couple of new starters led by promising offensive lineman Daron Rose. Clemson loses 3 starters from last year's line but they have a potential first round pick in Barry Richardson. Clemson's new starters on the line all have experience.

 

DL- Advantage FSU. FSU has an aggressive, full of pressure defense led by All-American Candidate Andre Fluellen. Clemson replaces All-World DE Gaines Adams to the NFL with former Prep All-American Ricky Sapp.

 

LB- Advantage Clemson. Nick Watkins and Tramaine Billie lead an athletic group of LB's. FSU lost first round NFL draft pick Lawrence Timmons and Buster Davis. FSU has a good group of young fast LB's led by star player Geno Hayes.

 

CB- Advantage FSU. FSU has 4 corners with plenty of experience led by Thorpe Award Candidate Tony Carter. Clemson has a group of talented corners but they are inexperienced with only 4 starts between them led by Chris Chancellor.

 

S- Advantage FSU. FSU returns both starting safeties led by All-American Candidate Myron Rolle and one of the best senior safeties in college football in Roger Williams. Clemson has a potential All-American in Chris Clemons.
