Fluellen uses off week to his advantage

Andre Fluellen hurt his elbow in practice just before the Colorado game forcing him to sit out the game. He stopped to talk to the media following a practice last week to discuss the injury and if he plans on being ready for Alabama on Saturday.

Last Saturday, Florida State faced a Colorado team who finished with a net total of -27 rushing yards. This impressive defensive performance came without the help of senior tackle Andre Fluellen. With the rest of the defensive line stepping up, Fluellen was able to rest his elbow that he injured in practice last Tuesday. He went without contact this week in hopes of resting it so he can play Saturday against Alabama.

Although Fluellen did not play at Colorado, he was more then ready to go. "I always want to play, especially if I go out there and dress out. I wanted to play so bad, but if they needed me I would had, especially with Letroy (Guion) and Budd (Thacker) doing their thing they didn't really need me. We didn't want to risk anymore injury."

Fluellen is excited about the bye week and being able to get healthy as soon as possible. He is fully expecting to play this Saturday in Jacksonville when they take on Alabama. "I just hyper extended my elbow. It was a little bit worse then I thought it was. It's been hurting ever since I did it so I knew something was going on. I'm glad we have a bye week this weekend and a lot of rest. I'm at the training room 6 o'clock every morning so just need to get rest."

Fluellen has 4 total tackles in his 2 games he has played in this season so far. He will need to up that number to stop Alabama's rushing attack let by running back Terry Grant, who Florida State heavily recruited before he committed to Alabama. The game time has been officially announced to start at 5:00 p.m. EST and will air on CBS to a national audience.
