Introducing 2009 DE Brandon Jenkins

Some 2009 prospects are beginning to receive interest and offers from programs across the country. FSU has followed suit, and DE Brandon Jenkins from Florida High has been a recipient of the Noles early interest. NoleDigest caught up with the standout and his mother to get an update to discuss his interest in FSU, the coaches he is hearing from and other schools that are in the mix.

Has Brandon received an offer from FSU or any other schools at this point?

FJ: FSU has not offered him yet, but they are evaluating him at this time. FIU is the only school that has sent a formal offer at this time. Miami has given a verbal offer, but that is all he has gotten at this time.

What position is FSU recruiting him as?

FJ: Primarily as a defensive end. At the Bobby Bowden Camp they tried him at linebacker and tight end, but he prefers defensive end because it is what he has been playing in high school. Right now he is 6'4" and 233 pounds.

Does Brandon have interest in Florida State at this time?

FJ: They are his top choice. He has always been a Nole. He was born in Tallahassee and has always been a fan. Pretty much FSU is what he knows. He went to the camp and was invited to Seminole Showtime. He loved it there and worked with Jody Allen and Odell Haggins. He has said numerous times that if he gets the offer from FSU he will faint.

What coaches from FSU is he hearing from?

FJ: His primary recruiter is Jody Allen. He gets emails from Jody Allen. He also has talked to Odell Haggins. He is just getting to know the coaches. He has an older brother that was recruited by FSU in 2000 so we are very familiar with some of these coaches. Brandon now is getting to know them.

Does Brandon have any top schools other than FSU at this point?

FJ: He has really heard from Florida a lot lately. Jimbo Fisher told his coach to tell him when Brandon is getting offered and hearing from other schools. Florida has been turning up the pressure lately, and they are Brandon's second choice. Schools like Clemson, who calls everyday, Miami and Alabama are on the list too. All of these schools call almost everyday and are evaluating Brandon at this time. It's FSU way out front now. He is enjoying the recruiting process so far, but he has been getting anxious seeing some of the 2009 kids getting offered by FSU.

**Right now it is very early in the process for Brandon, as he is a 2009 prospect. FSU has legitimate interest in the standout and looks to wrap up a commitment from him once they do formally offer. At this time he seems to be high on the coach's board for the 2009 class.
