Needless to say Jimbo Fisher has been making the rounds since the regular season ended. He's been the California, Virginia, Georgia and Mississippi the last week, as well as visiting talented players in the Tallahassee area. Blount has developed into one of the top targets for FSU, and Fisher wanted to see what LaGarrette has to offer the Noles. Blount says, "Coach visited me this past Saturday. The visit was nice and it went pretty well.
Between his unofficial visit and numerous calls with Fisher, Blount said the two of them have been developing a strong relationship. He says, "I really like Coach Fisher because he tells you like it is. He tells you up front how things are. He's been telling me that at FSU there is going to be no grabbing around and that its business from the start. I like that he tells me the running back spot is up for grabs."
Even though the offer has yet to come, Blount steadfastly believes it is only a matter of time the offer will come. "I didn't get the offer yet. As soon as they get my transcripts I think they'll pull the trigger on the offer. It's an 80% chance I'll commit when the offer comes. It isn't higher because I haven't officially visited yet. If I get it on my official I will most likely commit. I'm talking to Alabama, Oregon and Memphis, but I am waiting for this offer," said Blount.
Grades, not talent, have been the debated subject when it comes to Blount. Since NoleDigest began interviewing him, Blount has stated he's on pace to graduate in December. As of right now, that is still the case. He says, "I have good grades. My classes aren't over yet, but I should be graduating in December. My coach is sending off my paperwork tomorrow. More than likely I am done here at the end of the month."
Right now it is just a matter of time before this standout gets the offer from FSU. In the meantime LaGarrette is focused on finishing out the semester strong and waiting for his official to FSU on the 14th. "Overall this visit with Coach Fisher went well. Without a doubt it went very well. FSU is still way out in front for me, and I am just waiting now for things to fall into place. I'm looking forward to my official and then I'll go from there," stated Blount.
More than likely in a few weeks the answer to if Blount is going to be a Nole will be answered. Many people feel the offer will be extended then. But it is not 100% guaranteed. Both sides like each other, and it'll come down to grades. From the looks of it, Blount may be the next commitment for the 2008 recruiting class. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Blount and the rest of the 2008 recruiting class.
