Dawkins' visit to Florida State is the only official he'll be making, therefore he wanted to enjoy and experience as much as possible. According to Everett, the visit met all of his expectations. He said, "I had a lot of fun. I wanted to meet the players and all of the guys there. I spent a good bit of time with the early enrollees in Nigel (Bradham), Vince (Williams) and Terrance (Parks). I'll be spending 3 or 4 years with them so it was important to hang out with them. I think I got along with everyone."
One of the players Dawkins spent a lot of time with was Seminole standout Everette Brown. Brown was Dawkins' host for the weekend, and Dawkins states that Brown may be a guy he'll lean on when he gets to FSU in the summer. "Everette Brown was my host. I thought that was cool because we'll be playing together on the defensive line. I spent most of my time with him and he taught me a lot. When I got there on Friday he drove me around showing me the school and the city. When I get there I'll be looking at him as a guy I can lean on and help me out if needed," stated Dawkins.
One of the topics that were discussed on the visit was the expectation of playing time next year. For Dawkins he is expecting to come in next year and contribute. He explains, "With the suspensions and all, I think I'll be coming in next year ready to contribute. That's one thing that's been talked about (the academic situation). A lot of recruits don't like it but you really can't say much about it. The coaches didn't know about it. It comes down to these players being grown men and making mistakes. It was just a bad judgment call. For me it never turned me off. If anything I look at it as an opportunity for me when I get there."
Overall the visit for Dawkins was something he was looking forward to. On a scale from 1-10, Dawkins said it was perfect. "I rate it as a 10. The visit met my expectations and I saw everything I was looking for. Between going out and hanging with the players I had a lot of fun. I was looking at the other visitors and it looked like they were having a good time too. Some of them I thought to myself they are coming to FSU. It was just a great time," stated Dawkins.
Now that his official is out of the way Dawkins plans on turning his attention to hitting the books and finishing strong. He said, "I don't want to get too much bigger. I'm 249 pounds right now, and the coaches want me to keep my speed. Basically when I get home I'm going to hit the books hard and get ready to come to FSU in the summer."
