Avis is part of the trio of players from Jacksonville First Coast that committed early in the process. While Jermaine Thomas has looked around a bit, Nigel Carr and Avis have been as solid as solid can be. Commack tells NoleDigest that he is excited about this visit. He says, "I got my visit this weekend. It's my first and only official visit I'll be making so I am really looking forward to it."
While the 4-star wide-out has been to FSU on several occasions on unofficial visits and football camps, Commack is anxious to get a chance to see the school and college life that FSU has. "I've been there for some camps and games, so I already know the football side of it. I want to get to know more about the school itself like the dorms, the students and how the players interact. I just want to hang out and see how it is. My parents are coming and they are looking at the same things," stated Commack.
Often times when recruits commit early in the process schools will still try to get them to look in another direction. For Avis the relationship with Lawrence Dawsey is a main reason why he's a future Nole, and why he never paid attention to what other coaches had to say. He said, "Coach Dawsey came out to visit us Thursday at the school. Coach Fisher came too. He (Dawsey) is the main reason why I'm coming to FSU. After I committed other schools fell off. That's how I wanted it because I didn't want to talk to anyone else."
Right now Commack is in the midst of his basketball season. He says when he gets time he tries to hit the weightroom hard, saying he's "lifting weights a bit. I'm up to 187 now so I've put a few pounds on." Whether he is able to add weight will dictate if he sees the field next year.
Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Avis and the rest of the 2008 recruiting class as we head down the home stretch toward Signing Day.
