Legendary head coach Bobby Bowden and longtime defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews made an in-home visit on Monday to see Blountstown, FL standout Ryan Baker. For Baker it was nice having the coaches in-home, but it looks as though it may be too late. He said, "Coach Bowden was telling me that it didn't matter where I played, but Coach Andrews was telling me he wants me in the secondary. I prefer linebacker because that's where I think I'll make the most impact."
The 4-star linebacker committed to LSU over the summer, but he grew up a fan of the Seminoles. Baker states that for the Seminoles it may be a case of being too late with the offer. "The visit from the coaches didn't really change anything for me. My mind is made. I'm going to LSU. I gave my word to the coaches at LSU I was going, and my daddy taught me when I say something its final. I feel FSU waited too long. They say the want the best, and I feel I am one of the best. But I found another opportunity at LSU," stated Baker.
While Baker said he is "pretty much done with recruiting", he told NoleDigest that he is taking a visit this weekend to FSU to make sure. He said, "I've got to think about it the next couple days, but I think my mom and I are going to go this weekend. My mom gave Coach Bowden and Andrews her word we'll be there. I am going just to make sure I made the right choice."
With a stellar visit the coaches may give Baker something to think about, but as of right now he says he is "100% an LSU Tiger". Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Baker and the rest of the 2008 recruiting class.
