A.J. Alexander and his recruitment have been a subplot all year. In the summer he made an early commitment to Florida State, but de-committed when he decided he wanted to check out what other schools had to offer. Recently he made what he thought was his final choice when he committed to the Pitt Panthers, but chose to open it back up after his future position coach left for Miami. A.J. tells NoleDigest he realizes this may make him look bad, and he explains his thought process. He said, "I was talking to my teacher today about how much harder this decision is than people think. It might make me look bad, but I am just confused about what I want. I have so many people calling me giving me reasons to come to their school. It truly is hard to pick. I've got coaches leaving messages from schools I haven't heard from in a while. You can't help but listen to what they have to say. I joke sometimes I wish I had one offer so I knew I was going, but I am blessed to have this chance."
This weekend the speedy athlete will be making his last official visit to FSU. He says he is excited to make it back down. "I'm real excited about it. I liked it a lot before and I think it's gonna be nice. It's been awhile since I've been there. I'm anxious to be in some warm weather. I can't wait to see everyone, especially Big Oak (an FSU GA). My mom is coming with me so she can learn more about it, especially the academic side. I'm really anxious to spend some more time with the coaches," stated Alexander.
One of the coaches Alexander has been spending time with lately has been Rick Trickett. Coach Trickett was in Pennsylvania today to visit A.J., and according to him things went pretty well. He said, "He was just telling me about this weekend, telling me about the agenda and all that stuff. I'm taking the SAT Friday so I'll be coming late Friday. I plan on staying and leaving on Monday. He was asking about my grades and stuff like that. He is a funny guy, you know. He was saying he wishes he was a fly on the wall in my house with all the recruitment stuff. He was joking with me saying it's like a circus ring going on."
Alexander says that he is down to two schools in Florida State and Tennessee. He says this weekend will be it for the visits and that he'll make a decision on or around Signing Day. It's not out of the realm of possibility that he may make a decision and commit again to the Noles, so make sure you stick around NoleDigest to get the latest with Alexander after he finishes his official visit on Monday.
