Throughout the process Florida State has established themselves as the favorite for Garrett Faircloth. Had a full scholarship been extended a while ago, it's very likely Faircloth would've been a commitment a while ago. Nonetheless, on Wednesday Faircloth decided to commit to Florida State, giving them their 22nd commitment. He chose FSU's greyshirt offer over full scholarships from Ole Miss and Vanderbilt. He said. "Yeah, I committed to FSU last night. I called up Coach Trickett and told him I wanted to commit."
Coach Trickett has been building up a good offensive line since he arrived at FSU last January. Faircloth is the 4th offensive lineman to join the class, but as of right now he will not be enrolling until January of 2009. He said that the offer may turn into a full scholarship, but he may have to wait until Signing Day to see what happens. "I'm not sure how it's going to turn out, but I'll be coming either way," said Faircloth.
There was some discussion after the visit to Ole Miss may have pulled out front after his visit. He said, "I really enjoyed my visit to Ole Miss. Coach Houston Nutt has a great personality and you can tell people respond to him. I got along with offensive line coach Mike Markuson. It's obvious he is a great coach and we seemed to get along easily. But after all the visits FSU looked to be the best opportunity for me."
With his recruitment over Faircloth now plans to finish off his senior year strong and get ready to get to FSU. When that is has yet to be determined, but Florida State has found another hard nosed lineman who fits Trickett's style. Faircloth has room to grow, and at 6'6" has shown as a defensive lineman he has the feet and speed to be a good future tackle for the Noles.
