Harper speaks to NoleDigest

This weekend FSU was scheduled to host 5-star running back Jamie Harper for an official visit. There's been a ton of speculation as to what is going on if he made the visit or not. NoleDigest caught up with Harper for a quick update to talk about the status of the visit and where he stands right now with his recruitment.

Jamie Harper is one of the top running backs in the nation. The Trinity Christian star has his pick of any school he wants to go to, but he's trimmed his list to a final five of Clemson, FSU, Miami, Illinois and Florida. This weekend Harper was supposed to make an official to Florida State, but he did not make it. So, is FSU out of it for Jamie? The answer is no, and he has rescheduled the visit to check out his childhood favorite team. He said, "I didn't make the visit this weekend because there was some miscommunication with my ride. I am coming in for the visit tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday."

The coaches at FSU have made Harper their top priority at running back. They've made several visits to see the top rated running back in the state. "Coach Carter from FSU has seen me several times and I talk to him a lot. Coach Bowden made his in-home visit with me, and that was good. It's always great to have someone with his status come to visit. I like them because of the coaches and the opportunity there," said Harper.

After the visit to Florida State Harper will be making his final official to the University of Miami. The Hurricanes get the last shot, and some people make perceive that as thought they are the favorite. Harper says otherwise, saying, "With Miami I haven't seen their facilities, so that's why I'm visiting there. The coaches are good people. I'm actually hosting them on an in-home visit today. Right now I am wide open. I don't think I can be more open. I'm just trying to handle this crazy time as professional as possible. It makes it a lot easier for me that I have people around me helping and supporting me while I make this decision."

So as it stands right now the coaches at FSU will have their shot to show Harper that FSU is the best fit for him. For the Seminoles hopefully the third time will be the charm. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with Jamie and the rest of the 2008 recruiting class.
