Pressley working very hard to improve

Tavares Pressley is one of the top Junior College running backs in the nation. The Seminoles commitment finished his last year on the JUCO level as an All-Conference player. NoleDigest caught up with him to see what he's been up to and to talk about his recruitment has been going.

Tavares Pressley is a 4-star running back on, and he is the playmaker in the backfield the Seminoles have been looking for. Landing the commitment of Pressley will help the Seminoles improve a running game that has been stagnant over the past few years. While his commitment has been in place for some time, Pressley's recruitment isn't over until February 6th. He says everything has been going well, saying, "Everything has been going good. I've been working out a lot and really focusing on the school side of things. I've made it known that I'm solid to FSU, so I haven't really heard from schools since I committed in November."

Pressley is a recruit that will most likely come in next year and contribute right away. He's been a focus for the coaches, and he's hosted them on several occasions. Recently Lawrence Dawsey made the trip to California to visit Pressley. "Coach Dawsey was here recently. It was a really nice visit. We were talking about next year and how I'll be seeing playing time. We also talked about things in general. I really like him, as he is a great coach to talk to," said Pressley.

Another coach that Tavares has been hearing from is running back coach Dexter Carter. He says they often talk over the phone and are building a great relationship. He said, "I hear from Coach Carter. His playing time in the NFL is something that I really like about him. I look at him and someone who's accomplished the things that I want to do; he's won a title at Florida State, played in the NFL and won the Super Bowl. I think I can learn a lot from him."

Since his season ended Tavares has been working out a lot. He has set some goals before he gets to Florida State in terms of playing weight and speed. "I've been hitting the gym. I'm actually on the way there. I'm trying to gain some weight. Right now I am 217 pounds. I hope to get to 225 pounds before I get to FSU. That way when the season starts I'll be playing around 220. I've been running too, and people have been saying I'm getting faster. I want to make sure I can get a bit bigger and keep my speed," said Tavares.

With Signing Day a little over a week away Tavares can't wait to get to FSU. He says he's "just hanging out" and that "I'm coming early June". When he signs the letter of intent Pressley will officially realize he's going to living out his dream of playing at FSU. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates on Tavares and the rest of the 2008 recruiting class.
