Jamie Harper is one of the top running backs in the nation, and he has expressed throughout his recruitment that he was going to go through the whole process. Early on Florida State was considered a favorite to land him on Signing Day, but they didn't recruit him as hard as others. Now the Noles have put the full-court press on the Trinity Christian star. He took his official visit this past Monday and Tuesday, and said he had a good time. "I went to Florida State to get a feel for them. It was a good experience for me and I learned some things about them. I like Dexter Carter and I like the players there. They've always been a possibility. I developed some chemistry with their future quarterback at the ESPN game. FSU definitely has a chance."
On Thursday Harper hosted Jimbo Fisher for a visit at his school. Jamie has become a high priority for FSU, and Fisher has been working hard to try to secure Harper come Signing Day. Jamie told NoleDigest that the visit went well, saying, "The coaches came by my school today. They were just showing me that they want me and telling me that they need a big back in their system. Coach Fisher likes the bigger backs and there is an opportunity there for me."
Harper contends that his decision is still up in the air. After the visit from Fisher, Harper hosted some coaches from Clemson. He also intends on taking his scheduled official to Miami this weekend. "I'm still taking my visit to Miami. I like Coach Shannon and Coach Hurt. Miami has good tradition and I like the type of backs they put into the league. Shannon was at my house last Sunday for a home visit. That was good. I just want to check out their facilities down there," explained Harper.
As it stands right now Florida State is in contention for Jamie and is working hard to land him. The combination of Jimbo Fisher and Dexter Carter is one aspect Jamie likes about FSU, and he says he gets along with the players pretty well. Harper intends on announcing Wednesday at noon on ESPN, so we will know early if the Seminoles efforts paid off.
