Greensboro, NC – Two Seminoles football players were honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday when the All-ACC Academic Football Team was announced. Linebacker Derek Nicholson and rover Myron Rolle were both named to the team for the first time in their careers.
To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. All 12 ACC schools were represented by at least one selection on the team.
Nicholson and Rolle were key members of an FSU defense that finished the season in the top 10 in the NCAA for tackles for loss and in the top 30 for rushing defense and turnover margin. Nicholson led the team with 99 tackles, 19 more than anyone else on the squad. Rolle was tied for the team lead with two fumble recoveries and he registered 67 tackles this season.
