Dye favors 2

Florida State has offered several prospects already for the 2009 recruiting class. One of the players offered was Dyron Dye from Seminole High School in Sanford, FL. NoleDigest caught up with the standout defensive lineman to talk about his recruitment, as well as what he likes about the top schools on his list.

Dyron Dye is one of the top defensive end prospects in Central Florida for the 2009 recruiting class. The 6'5" 220 standout has seen his recruitment get off to a quick start in terms of offers and interest. "I am up to 8 offers right now. They are from Florida, Florida State, UCF, FIU, Cincinnati, Kentucky, South Carolina and Iowa State. Right now Florida and Florida State are at the top of the list. They are something my dad and I have always talked about. Those schools have always been dreams. I'd say the interest is hugely high in those two," said Dye.

Dye has been to Florida State 3 times, 2 for unofficial visits and the other for a camp. He says he had a good time each trip, and that at one time he liked the Seminoles a lot. He stated that a trip to Gainesville changed that a bit for him. He broke down for NoleDigest the reasons he likes Florida State and Florida at this time:

Florida State: "I've visited there twice for games and once for a camp. I think right now there are some plans to go there again. They have a good coaching staff and good athletes. The fans there are on and off with the noise level throughout the game. Coach Trickett is my recruiter. I haven't talked to him yet as he's spoken to my coaches at the school. I just got the offer and I was excited when I got it."

Florida: "I liked FSU until I went to a game at Florida. The fans are loud. They have a good coaching staff and a lot of good athletes. I'd say right now that they are out front for me."

As it stands right now it looks like Dye will make a visit, but it is not yet known if it'll be a camp or not. In the meantime Dye intends on working on his game. He said, "I had a good year last year. I had 65 tackles, 13 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 2 recoveries and a few blocked kicks. I get off the line well I use my hands well. I like to think I have what scouts look for in a player. I do need to put on weight and need to get stronger. I want to get to around 240 pounds before I get to college."

Even though the Gators are out front, the Seminoles have until the fall to change Dyron's mind as he intends on deciding at the beginning of his season. When asked the Seminole's chances in catching up, Dye had this to say, "I don't know if FSU could catch up to Florida right now. They could, but I haven't really seen any progress from them."
