Tallahassee, FL - Florida State sophomore Myron Rolle is one of the Seminoles' finest student-athletes on and off the field. Florida State's rover has started 23 straight games since his true freshman season in 2006 and was one of the team leaders in tackles this past football season. Rolle has already won the 2007 Arthur Ashe award and the 2006 Watkins Award in addition to his induction to the Phi Eta Sigma. The academic honors keep coming for the Galloway, NJ native as he was recently inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society and also received a Florida State University 2008 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Award
Rolle's Florida State University 2008 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Award was granted to him by the Office of National Fellowships Advisory Committee. Rolle received one of 13 awards and was selected from a pool "70 outstanding applications". The purpose of the award is to help Rolle realize his intellectual and creative potential, clarify his career goals, and help him to prepare for graduate school and national fellowship competitions.
Earlier this month Rolle was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa. Membership is awarded to undergraduate junior and senior students; to graduate students; to faculty, staff, administration and alumni; and to persons qualifying for membership "honoris causa." Student membership candidates must rank in the upper 35 percent in scholarship of their school or college and must show leadership in at least one of five areas: scholarship; athletics; campus or community service, social and religious activities, and campus government; journalism, speech, and the mass media; and creative and performing arts.
Rolle and the Seminoles are currently involved in off-season conditioning programs. The team will return to the field March 17th for spring practice.
