James Green has ties to Florida State as his uncle Lamont Green was a standout for the Seminoles in the 1990's. Over the past few seasons Lamont was the defensive coordinator at Dr. Krop in Miami, and James was one of the standout players for the team. With Lamont now at FSU as an academic advisor, James made the move with his uncle to Tallahassee and is now going to Leon High. Right now his recruitment is quiet, but he has two offers, saying, "I've been living with my uncle Lamont Green for a while. When he came up here to Tallahassee I decided to come with him. I chose Leon because it is the closest one to my house. Recruiting is going good. So far I have offers from UCF and South Carolina. I haven't been getting a lot of mail at this time."
While the offers aren't coming in at this time, Green has several schools who he'd like to hear from. "I like FSU, Georgia, Ohio State, North Carolina, Rutgers, Auburn and Clemson. I haven't really been hearing from FSU, but I want to hear from them more," said Green.
The fact that James' uncle played for FSU makes them one of the favorites at this time for Green. The Seminoles have always been a favorite of James. He said, "I've always liked them. My uncle went there and I've always had a lot of respect for Bobby Bowden. I grew up a fan and always went to the games. I want to go there, but I am open right now to the process."
The talented wide-out is seeing his name on the recruiting radar not only because he is a good player, but also due to his ties with cornerback prospect Ricardo Dixon out of Miami, FL. The two are best of friends and seem to be a package deal. "We are a package deal, said Green. "Both of us agreed that we are going to the same school. Right now we have the same offers from South Carolina and UCF. We are going to wait and see who else offers at this point," said Green.
It is safe to say at this point that Green doesn't have an idea as to what his recruiting process is going to entail. He does say that if he got an offer from FSU he'd really consider it. But right now he doesn't have any favorites. At this time James wants to work on his game. He said, "I want to work on my route running. Other than that I think I am good. I have good size at 6'3" and 196 pounds. I run the 40 in 4.48 and my shuttle time is 4.26. I think I move well for my size."
James doesn't have any plans for the summer at this time with regards to camps and combines, but if he does decide to attend one look for his stock to begin to rise. Stay tuned to NoleDigest for further updates with James and the rest of the 2009 recruiting class.
